Check out some of our upcoming events and opportunities, as well as some news in our work and the broader fight for reproductive freedom and gender equity!

Crisis Pregnancy Center Teach-In

We are teaming up with the Minnesota Abortion Action Committee (MNAAC) to bring back another teach-in on the anti-abortion fake clinics known as Crisis Pregnancy Centers (CPCs).

Participants will learn about:

  • What crisis pregnancy/anti-abortion centers are and how to identify them
  • How crisis pregnancy centers are connected to broader right-wing and anti-abortion movements
  • How you can take action to combat the harms of crisis pregnancy centers

The teach-in will take place virtually over Zoom on Wednesday, August 21, at 6:30 p.m, and you can sign up to join us here!

TOMORROW: Benefit Concert in Fargo

Tomorrow, August 17, The Aquarium will be holding a benefit concert for Gender Justice in Fargo! This is a double header event, with the earlier portion being all ages, and the later portion being 21+. If you are in the area and looking for weekend plans, be sure to come through!

You can find all the details here.

In Case You Missed It: Our New Case

This month, Gender Justice and co-counsel Wanta Thome PLC filed a discrimination lawsuit against the Academy of Holy Angels, a Catholic high school in Richfield, Minnesota, and the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis after they effectively terminated Reyzl Grace, a staff librarian, when she came out as trans.

We believe the school violated the Minnesota Human Rights Act (MHRA) by refusing to allow Grace, who served as a secular librarian at the school, to reapply for her position on the basis of gender identity and sex.

In the News: CPCs Don’t Protect Private Health Information

In a new piece in Ms. Magazine about deceptive Crisis Pregnancy Center data privacy practices, Jenifer McKenna writes that these anti-abortion centers promise confidentiality, when in fact, the health information provided in confidence by those seeking reproductive healthcare is not protected.

“[CPCs] are essentially free to share the sensitive information they are collecting from pregnant people as they wish—information that could be weaponized in pregnancy- or abortion-related investigations post-Roe.”
