Job Opportunities
We’re a small but mighty organization looking for the newest members of our ambitious, highly effective, and growing team.
Development Director
The Development Director is the executive in charge of the development team, focused on fundraising for Gender Justice’s entities (c3 and c4) in Minnesota and North Dakota. The total budget for both organizations is around $3.5M with the majority of funding coming from foundation grants, then individual gifts, and some earned income. The development team works to ensure that there are sufficient resources for GJ/A to lead as a powerful advocate across broad segments of the progressive gender justice movement in the region. The creative and passionate professionals of the development team play an essential role in driving GJ/A’s mission through a robust resource development strategy consisting of both institutional supporters and individual giving.
The Development Director (DD) is a critical position in defining the vision and stewarding the growth of the fundraising infrastructure at GJ/A. The Development Director reports directly to the Executive Director. The Development Director owns the fundraising bottom line for GJ/A and manages the Development Coordinator. The DD is also a key member of GJ/A’s Leadership Team and works collaboratively with teams across the organization in furtherance of resource development. This position regularly interacts with the both of GJ/A boards overall and staffs its Fundraising Committee.
Internships & Fellowships
Gender Justice is committed to mentoring the next generation of advocates for gender equity. We welcome inquiries from college students studying law, public policy, gender theory, nonprofit administration, and related fields. We offer compelling learning experiences for undergraduate, graduate, and law students, new lawyers, and paralegals.
Interns at Gender Justice are on a seasonal cohort schedule: Spring, Summer, and Fall/Winter interns. These seasons have been set to largely align with school schedules and provide a cohort-type learning experience, though exceptions can be made upon request.
The schedule is as follows:
- Spring internships run roughly from January through April;
- Summer internships run roughly from May through August;
- Fall internships run roughly from September through December.
Legal Internships
With growing attacks on gender equity, reproductive freedom, and LGBTQ+ rights, now is a crucial time to join the fight. During your internship, you’ll assist with ongoing Gender Justice cases. You will also assist with and learn about the legislative and policy advocacy, administrative advocacy, public education, organizing, outreach, and coalition work that accompanies our litigation.
We provide legal internships with stipends to current law students.
We are no longer accepting applications for Spring internships. Check back for Summer 2025 opportunities next Spring.
Development Internships
With growing attacks on reproductive freedom and LGBTQ+ equity, we’re looking to increase our development capacity so we can expand our work. During your internship, you’ll learn about fundraising, non-profit administration, communications, database management, and planning events.
We welcome applications from anyone based in the Twin Cities area in Minnesota interested in learning about non-profits and gender equity. Internships last one semester (or one summer) and include a stipend.
We are not currently accepting development internship applications.
Advocacy and Engagement Internships
Our advocacy work focuses on advancing political and organizing goals for our organization and base of supporters. During an advocacy internship, you’ll learn about legislative and policy advocacy, administrative advocacy, public education, organizing, outreach, and coalition work.
We are full for the Fall but please check back for Spring internships.
Fellowships
We sponsor fellows who receive funding through a variety of programs, including but not limited to the Robina Foundation, Skadden Foundation, University of Minnesota Human Rights Center, Minnesota Asian Pacific American Bar Association, Stanford Public Interest Center, Equal Justice Works, New Sector Alliance, and fellowships sponsored by law schools around the country.
If you are interested in a Gender Justice sponsorship for a one or two-year legal fellowship, send an inquiry to [email protected].
Gender Justice seeks to provide student development and leadership opportunities that reflect our values of equity and inclusion with regard to race, culture, ethnicity, class, religion, physical ability, age, gender, and sexual orientation. We are committed to fostering the leadership of women, people of color, Native and indigenous people, LGBQ and trans people, immigrants, and others living in marginalized communities.
Milestones of Progress
Our organization has celebrated some big wins over the years and we continue to grow in the ways we harness strategic impact litigation, legislative advocacy, and education to push the law forward when it comes to gender equality. Check out what we’ve accomplished, together.
