Following the passage of HF 1233—a bill that attempts to carve transgender people out of Minnesota’s Human Rights Act—from the Minnesota House Judiciary Committee today, Megan Peterson, executive director at Gender Justice, issued the following statement:
“Here we go again. This is the second time this week lawmakers are trying to ban trans women and girls from sports—and it’s just as cruel, damaging, and destined to fail as the first bill.
Minnesota has already decided: Trans kids belong. They have the same rights as everyone else. This bill will fail, just like the last one did. Lawmakers should spend time on bills that address real problems, instead of wasting time on bills that create them.”
